Im Rahmen der britischen JISC Initiative Living Books about Live – ist ein open access Buch zum Thema Ubiquitous Surveillance erschienen.

While not everyone in the late 90s could be characterized as a cyberutopian, the dominant mood harbored a sense that the digital network would bring with it newfound, unregulatable freedoms […..] Flash forward fifteen years and the present looks significantly different from the one envisioned in the 1990s. Instead of a future of Second Life and virtual worlds, we ended up building one that more closely resembles Minority Report. Advances in technology, an increasingly regulated and monitored digital network, and a general atmosphere of securitization have yielded a world of ubiquitous, if not always visible, surveillance.

Der Inhaltverzeichnis liest sich gut und weckt die Neugier – vor allem weil es sich um Autoren und thematische Perspektiven handelt, die nicht so oft prominent vorkommen – hauptsächlich aus einem eher technische, Computer, Mensch-Maschinen-Interface, Medien Kontext. Vor allem geht es um Mobile Anwendungen und die Folgen und Konsequenzen im Zusammenhang mit Ãœberwachung. Es könnte sich also durchaus lohnen.

Die Kollegen Cjristian Fuchs, Kees Boersma, Anders Albrechtsl und  Marisol Sandoval haben ein Buch zum Internet und den Herausforderungen hinsichtlich der Überwachung herausgegeben:
