Wissen und Überwachung gehören seit jeher zusammen und ein nachdenken darüber wie Wissen produziert wird. Ich bin erst jetzt auf eine schon vor 2 Jahren erschienene Ausgabe von Big Data and Society aufmerksam geworden, die ich für sehr lesenswert halte. Der Titel ist so simpel wie aussagekräftig: Knowledge Production
Datafied knowledge production: practices, mechanisms and imaginaries at work in big data analyses.
Data(fication) is increasingly incorporated in syllabi and research programmes as a mot du jour across almost all fields concerned with the social – from the humanities and law to business and political science. Yet most struggle to pinpoint the exact nature of this transformation in more concrete terms. This special issue seeks to contribute to the ongoing process of conceptual clarification by tending to the fundamental, but somewhat overlooked transformations incurred by big data analytics focusing on processes of data collection, visualization, representation, narrativization and infrastructuration.
